What to Expect

E-Mountain Biking in the Durmitor Region

The Durmitor and Sinjajevina plateaus offer some of the finest mountain biking terrain in the Balkans — vast highland meadows, forest trails, gravel tracks connecting remote villages, and sweeping mountain panoramas in every direction. With state-of-the-art e-mountain bikes, this landscape becomes accessible to riders of all fitness levels.

Electric assist does not replace pedaling — it amplifies your effort. Long climbs that would exhaust a regular mountain biker become manageable, which means you can cover more ground, reach more remote locations, and enjoy the ride without burning out on the uphills.

Guided Tours

Our guided eMTB tours are designed to showcase the best of the Durmitor region:

Village Loop — A half-day ride through the highland villages surrounding Zabljak. You pass traditional stone houses, small farms, and meadows with views of the Durmitor peaks. This route offers a cultural perspective alongside the riding experience and is ideal for those with limited time.

4 Lakes Tour — A longer ride connecting four of Durmitor's glacial lakes. The route mixes forest trails, open plateaus, and lakeside paths. It is one of our most popular tours, combining natural beauty with varied riding terrain.

Sinjajevina Tour — A full-day adventure on the Sinjajevina plateau, one of the largest mountain pastures in Europe. This route covers expansive grasslands with herds of free-roaming horses and cattle, visits to shepherd huts, and views that stretch to the Adriatic coast on clear days. A traditional lunch stop is the highlight.

Durmitor Ring — Our most comprehensive tour, circling the Durmitor massif on a mix of roads, gravel tracks, and trails. This is a full-day ride for those who want the complete Durmitor experience from the saddle.

Tours depart from Zabljak, with additional departure points available from Tivat and Savnik depending on the route.

Self-Guided Riding and Bike Rental

For experienced riders who prefer to explore independently, we offer bike rental with route support:

  • Full Suspension eMTB — €45 for half-day, €80 for full-day
  • Hard-tail eMTB — €35 for half-day, €55 for full-day

Every rental includes a helmet, a battery charger for mid-tour recharging, and a route briefing. GPS devices are available for rent so you can follow curated routes without a guide. We provide detailed route maps and advice on trail conditions before you set out.

The Bikes

Our fleet consists of modern, well-maintained e-mountain bikes from leading manufacturers. Both full-suspension and hard-tail models are available. The electric motors provide smooth, responsive assist that adapts to your pedaling effort. Battery range is sufficient for a full day of riding in normal conditions, and we provide a charger so you can top up during a lunch stop or rest break.

Who Is It For?

E-mountain biking in Durmitor is for anyone who enjoys cycling and wants to explore mountain terrain without requiring elite fitness. The electric assist opens up routes that would otherwise be reserved for experienced mountain bikers. Whether you are a casual rider looking for a scenic half-day, a family wanting a shared adventure, or an experienced cyclist seeking to cover serious distance — there is a ride for you here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rent a bike without a guide?

Yes, bike rental without a guide is available. We provide the bike, a helmet, a charger for mid-tour top-ups, and route recommendations based on your experience level. GPS devices are also available for rent so you can follow routes independently. We brief you on the bike's features and the local trail network before you head out.

Is e-mountain biking suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. The electric assist takes the sting out of long climbs, making routes accessible that would otherwise require advanced fitness. Our guided tours are paced to the group, and we select routes that match the ability of participants. If you can ride a bicycle, you can ride an eMTB.

How long are the guided tours?

Tour durations vary by route. The Village Loop is a half-day experience of around 3 to 4 hours. The 4 Lakes tour takes most of the day. The Sinjajevina tour is a full-day adventure. We also offer custom durations — just tell us your available time and we will design a route.

What is the minimum number of people for a guided tour?

Guided tours typically require a minimum of 2 participants. Solo riders are welcome on a private basis at an adjusted rate. For rental without a guide, there is no minimum.

Are meals included?

Meals are not included in standard tours but can be arranged. Several of our routes pass through villages where we can stop at local restaurants or arrange a packed lunch. On the Sinjajevina tour, a traditional lunch stop is a highlight of the experience.

How much water should I bring?

We recommend at least 1.5 liters per person for half-day rides and 2.5 liters for full-day tours. The electric assist reduces physical effort compared to regular mountain biking, but hydration is still important, especially in summer heat.

What happens if it rains?

Light rain does not stop a ride — mountain biking in light rain can be enjoyable if you are dressed for it. Heavy rain or thunderstorms may lead to rescheduling for safety, as trails can become slippery. We monitor weather forecasts and will contact you in advance if conditions look problematic.
