Savin Kuk — Summer on the Ski Mountain

Known to skiers from across Europe for its dramatic winter slopes, Savin Kuk takes on a completely different character in summer. Without snow, the mountain reveals its true rocky architecture — steep ridgelines, exposed faces, and a summit commanding some of the finest views in Durmitor.

The 8.1km trail gains 795 meters, making this a serious hard-rated hike. The gradient is relentless in sections, demanding a steady pace and solid mountain fitness. But the views that open up as you climb — across Black Lake, the Žabljak plateau, and the full panorama of Durmitor's peaks — are worth every vertical meter.

The Summit Experience

From the top of Savin Kuk, you stand at the same point where ski runs begin in winter, now surrounded by silence and sky. The perspective is genuinely spectacular: Bobotov Kuk and the high massif to the north, Tara Canyon cutting through the landscape to the west, and the patchwork of forests and lakes below.

The trail follows the summer hiking route, which tracks through alpine terrain on the upper mountain. Your guide will navigate the best line on exposed sections and manage the group pace across the 4-hour 5-minute round trip.
