Crvena Greda — meaning "Red Ridge" in Serbian — is a striking peak named for the iron-rich limestone that gives its summit a distinctive reddish hue. The short route packs a serious 496 meters of elevation gain into just 8.1km, making it a genuinely challenging moderate hike that delivers summit rewards without requiring a full day in the mountains.

The ascent is steep in places, demanding solid footing and a steady pace. But the effort is richly repaid. From the summit, you look out across the full sweep of the Durmitor massif — the high peaks, the glacial lakes, the forested valleys, and on clear days, the distant shimmer of the Adriatic Sea.

The Experience

The trail begins in conifer forest before breaking into open rocky terrain as elevation increases. The gradient steepens in the upper section, requiring some scrambling on loose rock — exciting rather than dangerous, and entirely manageable with the right footwear.

Your guide will choose the best pace for the group and select optimal rest points with the finest views. The return descent via the same route allows you to appreciate the landscape from a completely different angle.
